Ray-Ban Aviators
The Aviator style of sunglasses was first developed by Ray-Ban in the early 1940's for the army and navy as a replacement to the flying goggles that Ray Ban were producing at that time. Since then they have become one of the most copied style of sunglasses of all time, with their metal frames and, typically, mirrored lenses adorning the rich and famous, and immortalised in films such as Top Gun, with Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer both sporting the Ray Ban Aviator.
The 21st century version of the Ray-Ban Aviator, hasn't changed much since the original. The style is to have large metal frames, 2 or 3 times the size of the eye, with dark, often reflective, lenses.
