Ray Ban Wayfarer
The Ray Ban Wayfarer is probably the most iconic sunglass of all time. Designed in 1952 by optical designer Raymond Stegeman, they were seen as radical in design, with their plastic frames replacing the more traditional metal frames used up until that time.
Immortalised by Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s in the early 1960’s, the Ray-Ban Wayfarer has been in-favour with fashionistas ever since, and they are cited as the best-selling sunglasses of all time.
The Ray Ban Wayfarer has evolved many times throughout its 50 year history, and the Ray Ban Wayfarer range today is wide, with a range of colours and sizes. Manufactured in Italy by Luxottica, the original Ray-Ban Wayfarer RB2140 is the style that most people will be familiar with – probably having owned a pair in the eighties and wishing they had kept them!
Now available in a huge range of colours, the RB2140 has been seen on many celebrities. Our RB2140 best selling colours include the classics black and tortoise, and the more funky and quirky red on black, pearlised red on red, light grey on pink and white. The RB2140 Ray Ban Wayfarer comes in three sizes – small 47mm, medium 50mm and large 54mm – with the medium size being the most popular.
Ray Ban Wayfarers can also be fitted with prescription lenses and can be worn either clear – for a big statement – or with tinted prescription lenses available from designer-glasses.co.uk.
If you have seen a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers you wish to purchase and they are not listed on our site – please do contact us to see if they are coming into stock shortly – we will always try and get the colour/style you require.
